Hello My Dear Sweet and Wonderful Friends :) !!!

I have to start with the GREATEST NEWS !!!!  I got a phone call yesterday from my cousin Lori (Click here to see the post about the journey my incredible Lori has been on).  She just received a complete CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH from her oncologist  !!!  She is right now, as we speak....CANCER FREE !!!!  In January, Lori was stage 4 with her cancer and today she is cancer free !!! How good is our God.....how amazing is our God......how incredible is our God !!!  I can't even begin to express what I'm feeling....complete joy and to my shame... even surprise that God could/would do this for Lori and our family.  I don't know the mind of God to understand why he chooses  to spare some  and take others but I do know that it is always the right choice to trust Him and rely on Him no matter what path you are asked to travel on.....I just know that wherever any of us are asked to journey that I will always journey with Him... it is the only answer !!  We're planning a big family BBQ to celebrate Lori !   She's joined a wonderful church and has also joined the church choir (she has an AMAZING voice) and she said last night that it's time to start using her voice to praise our God ! AMEN !!!!

News like that is impossible to top but I also wanted to share some more great news !!!  I don't know all the details yet BUT we just found out that sometime in the near future Stampin' Up! will soon be offering online ordering for YOU !!!! Isn't that fantastic...I can't tell you how excited I am about this !!!  YOU will be able to place Stampin' Up orders 24/7 and your demonstrator will still be compensated for orders that you place online...when you place your online order it will ask you who your demonstrator is....isn't that fantastic !!!  I will say this....if you choose to place an online order PLEASE be sure to give recognition to your demonstrator when you are asked to do so !!  If you don't have a demonstrator Stampin' Up! will give you the option to order under a demonstrator who lives close to you...if you place an order without a demonstrator you will pay a higher price on your merchandise/shipping and can't earn stamping rewards so it's in YOUR best interest to order and select your demonstrators name when ordering. I also know that you can place an online order from Your Demonstrators Stampin' Up! Business Website....I'm so excited about that !!! I will also say this..if you have a loyal demonstrator, please stay faithful to her when ordering online.  She has worked hard for you...if you don't have a demonstrator that's another thing but if you have a "girl" she'll appreciate your loyalty !   It's not ready but you know I'll definately tell you when it is !!!  I hope I haven't confused you and I'm POSITIVE we'll be getting a lot more info at Convention which is in 7 DAYS !!!!!!!!  Can you tell I'm a little excited !!!  I'm not sure what I'm more excited about...getting FREE stamps, doing make n' takes, learning a TON more things or seeing all my blogging buddies !!!!  Oh my gosh...I'm tearing up right now just thinking about hugging these girlies !!!!!  

Okay....I hope I haven't overwhelmed you with all my GREAT/GREATER/ AND GREATEST NEWS today but I have just a little bit more to share with you :)  Last night was my Stamp Club Ladies night and as usual....we had a great time together !  I am always amazed how different each group is and also how incredible each group is  !!!  They're all just a fantastic group of ladies....love you ladies so much !!!!  Last night we made a shaker card and we also did a swing card !!  Swing cards are so much fun to make because they are so different from a regular 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card...you still get two swing cards out of every piece of 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of cardstock.  Beate posted a great tutorial on Splitcoast that you can see here  !  The girls really liked this card and I absolutely "Lovely as a Tree".....so gorgeous !!!

Well it's been a craaaaaazy week already and it's gonna stay that way for awhile....but it's all good !!! :)  We leave for the Stampin' Up! Convention in 6 DAYS !!!!  I've got SOOOOO much to do before we go.....club night tonight, swaps to make, gifts to create, chore lists to make, meals to prep, soccer games to go to, pack, and a million other things that I'm sure I'm forgetting :)  It will all be worth it though so I'm not complaining.

Ella Update:  She's doing fantastic !!!  We actually kept her until Monday night here before she went back to Scott's.  Her energy has tripled since she's been fed proper food and put on a routine.  She wasn't house trained when the kids got her but she's doing a great job of it now !!! Way to go, Ella !!!  You know the next time she's here (which I'm sure will be soon) I'll post some more pics of her.....we sure do love her !!!

Last night was my 10-10-20 Class night !!!  It was probably more like a 10-20min.-20 class.....we all talk wayyyyyy too much !  I always feel badly when the evening goes longer than I thought but thankfully the girls look at it as a social evening and not just about stamping (which is exactly the way I feel about it too :)  It's just as much as about having fun, eating, talking, & laughing as it is about stamping !! :)  Big shout out to Barb N., Marg, Leona, Shelly, Lynda, Wendy, Barb V. and Mum who came last night and to Linda who couldn't make it because her daughter was in labour (edited to add...just found out she had a 9 lb. 14 oz. boy !!!!!  How exciting is that !!!  What a great evening together....I'm so thankful for these ladies....you're all wonderful !!!

Introducing......ELLA !!!

No stamping today :( BUT I do want to introduce the adorable Ella to you all !!!  Jessica (our 18 yr old) and her boyfriend Scott found out about a puppy that was in desparate need of a good home and truthfully needing a rescue.  So.....rescued she was !!! Scott and Jess took her to the vet yesterday and they figure she's a chihuahua/pomeraian mix.  She weighs a whole 2 lbs, 8 oz.  Thankfully the vet figures that she's in good health even though she wasn't being fed properly.  She has stayed most of the time at Scott's but she's sleeping over tonight and all  I can say is......oh my gosh....she's so adorable !!!  Our 120 lb. golden retriever is doing very well with her.  She came over for a few hours yesterday and we introduced the two of them.  Poor Dawson had no idea what/who this little thing was that was in his house and yard but today he's handled her very well.  She'll head back to Scott's tomorrow afternoon but I have a feeling she'll be a shared custody puppy:)  Here's some pics of her with the kids and Dawson....

 

 

She'll probably top out at a ginormous 5 lbs (the vet thinks she's probably around 3 - 4 months old right now).  She's definately a VERY loved little puppy and we're happy to have her join the Somerville/Shaw family !!!!  :)

SHE SAID YES TO THE DRESS !!!!!!!!!! and a card to match :)

HOLLA!!!!!

Yesterday was a HUGE day !!!!  We (Cait, Jess, Johanna (Ben's Sister), Steph (Cait's Best Friend), Brooke, Mac and myself) went WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING !!!!!  We drove to a place we'd heard a lot good things about that's about an hour away.  The lady was very nice but we all knew we hadn't found THE dress yet.  On our way home Cait asked if we could stop at Ballett's Wedding Shop and guess what.......we found THE dress !!!  We had a WONDERFUL experience there !  Jess was in the change room with Cait helping her get the dresses on and it was heartwarming to hear the two of them giggling in there....yup...I cried even hearing them giggle together :(  You know I can't give any details away about her dress other than to say....it's simply elegant....just like Caitlin.  She looked breathetaking !!!  I know how blessed we are to have found THE dress on our first dress shopping venture but when you know it's the right one....you just know it.  When she came out we all agreed that it was THE one.  She absolutely glowed and beamed from ear to ear !!!!  I have to pat myself on the back as I only "lost it" a few times :)  The whole day  definately felt surreal and yet so absolutely wonderful...

In celebration of finding Cait's dress I wanted to make a card with a bride's dress on it :)  In my search to find a pattern I came across a wonderful tutorial which you can find here   I didn't do any stamping on the dress so that it would look more "bridal" like :) I'm so excited how it turned out.....let me know if you like it too :)

Although I'm exhausted today I'm absolutely exhilarated !!!  What a fantastic sense of accomplishment to have found her dress (within the budget might I add !!!!)

I'm heading out this afternoon with my mum for a few hours and I'm looking forward to that too.  Kevin and I are going to try and do our "date night" tonight as we forgot Brooke had soccer practice on Wednesday night when we thought we'd go out earlier this week....oh well.....I'm looking forward to having some alone time with him !  Have I said lately how much I love him and how good a man he is....I might have already said that....hehehe :)

I'm sorry that I'm behind on emails so if you've emailed me in the last few days I'm planning on getting caught up tomorrow (Saturday)....I promise I'm not ignoring you :)

Happy Wonderful Wednesday One and All !!!! :)

I can never fully express my gratitude to you all for being so kind to me these past few days (actually you're always very kind to me but even more so lately :) I wanted to thank you for sharing your stories of similar journeys of medication side effects and depression.  It's a wonderful thing to not feel alone and I thank you so much for that.   I am pleased to say I am feeling like myself again and it feels so good !!!  

I had a fantastic time with my Dad yesterday!!  We went to my favourite place to eat....CORA'S !!!  My dear friends Kate & Don Hunter run Cora's and do an AMAZING job there !!!  I'm so grateful for the relationship that my Dad and I have....he's an absolute sweetheart and an incredible father and Bumpa (that's what the grandkids call him :) !

So....I didn't get a chance to stamp yesterday :(...but I did today :) !!!  I wanted to use the other NEW IN COLOURS and NEW STAMP SETS that I hadn't used yet to make my card for today.  I'm pleased with the end result but during the process I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out and sometimes those are the funnest cards to makes....the ones you just kind of wing it :)  I cut out the flower and then crumbled it up to give a worn/aged look. I also used the reinkers and blender pens to colour in the centre image.  When you soak up ink with the blender pen tip it becomes a marker !!!!  Let me know what you think of it :)

A VERY HAPPY AND QUICK UPDATE :)

I just HAD to give a quick update this morning before I head out (I'm taking my wonderful and sweet Dad out for lunch for his belated Father's Day gift :) LOVE YOU DAD !!!! 

Today is the first morning in a week that I didn't wake up crying...I no longer feel anxious or depressed !! I drank a ton more water than I usually do yesterday to hopefully help flush the meds out of my system and I truly truly feel wonderful !!!  I feel about 99.9% back to my ol' self !!! 

I did cry today but not out of sadness but because of your wonderful comments and emails that you left on yesterday's post !! you wonderful, wonderful women made me cry with all of your incredible support and love that you sent me...I just can't thank you enough !! 

I'm going to get some stampin' done this afternoon and will post again but I couldn't go out this morning without updating and thanking you all !!!!  I LOVE YOU ALL !!!!!

Is it a bag or box ????? And...a little honesty :)

Good Morning My Dear Friends

I'm going to start this morning with "a little honesty" When I started this blog I decided early on that I would open myself up to those that took the time to visit me here so that means...I will be honest about what is going on in my life (the good stuff and not so good stuff).   I went to my family Dr. (wonderful christian woman !!!...so thankful for her) about pain in my hips and it was making sleeping at night very difficult.  After a thorough examination she told me I had bursitis (inflammation in the fluid around your hip joints, really not a big deal). So she prescribed some anti-inflammatories for a couple of weeks to hopefully calm things down.  I was a good girl and read the take home info from the pharmacist about side effects, etc.  I had been taking them for a few days when I noticed a change in my disposition...a little blah...a little blue.  Didn't think a whole lot of it and kept taking my medication.  By the end of last week I was very weepy and quite down and I kept saying to Kev that I felt anxious and I had no idea why.  He was very kind and patient with me but things over the next several days I only got worse.  Last night at Colt's soccer game I turned to Kev and said that I was getting really worried about how I was feeling and even feeling quite depressed.  One of my dear friends (who is also a soccer mom) was at the game (she's also a pharmacy assistant) so I spoke with her for a few moments telling how I was feeling and wondering if it might be related to the medication.  She told me she'd look it up in her pharmacy book and let me know.  I went home and did an internet search on the medication I was taking and guess what....it can cause tiredness (I had two naps this weekend...I NEVER nap) anxiety and depression !!!!  So needless to say I have stopped taking the medication and we'll look for an alternative medication.  Hopefully this will be out of my system in the few days and I can start to feel more like myself.  Why am I telling you all this....to get your sympathy (no, but I'll take it :) but rather to tell you it's so important that we educate ourselves about what we put in our bodies.  I thought I had, but apparently I overlooked some very important information along the way.  Saturday and Sunday were brutally emotionally days and my poor family was collateral damage because of it.  I asked them all to forgive me today and hopefully their wife and mother will return soon.  It's so vital that if we need help.....we need to ask for it.  We can't be a super mom and think we can take care of everyone in our lives and ourselves without any help.  We need to admit that something might not be right whether that means emotionally, physically or spiritually.  The longer we go on not getting the help we need.....the worse our struggle will get and often...needlessly.   Thanks for listening today....even just "talking" about it with you guys makes me feel even better.  It's okay to admit we need help :)

One of the things that helps me feel better is obviously stamping :)  Surprisingly though this project has absolutely no stamping on it !!  I've seen this adorable bag/boxes and knew I had to make one.  Diana posted a wonderful tutorial that you can view here  I used the new Bella Rose DP, Buttons and the NEW Scallop Edge Punch (which makes the scallop edge a TON easier to do than using the slit punch !!  I love the buttons because you can use either side...one side is glossy the other is a mat finish (the top and bottom buttons are the glossy side and the middle is the mat finish).  Just making this little bag (or is it a box) made me feel better.  Creating is always therapeutic for me !  Find that thing in life that makes you feel good when life feels a little tougher than usual and find time to do it !  Yup...that's an order from me !! Trust me...I know what I'm talking about :)

Can you smell what I smell....take a deep breathe.....can you smell it now?????   IT'S THE SMELL OF BRAND SPANKIN' NEW INK - PAPER - ACCESSORIES - AND.....STAMPS !!!!!!  My preorder arrived yesterday and this morning I got a chance to play with my new toys !!!  Here's a peek inside my box that arrived....

Goooooooood Mornin' !!!  I'm actually a little nervous to show the project that I've been working on.  You know when you see something for the first time and you freak out and go " oh my gosh....I love this....I think I'm gonna cry cause I love it so much" and then someone else says...."yeah, it's nice but I wouldn't freak out over it"...well....that's why I'm nervous cause I'm in the "oh my gosh...I love this...I think I'm gonna cry cause I love it so much" category !!!  What I absolutely LOVE about this project is it is completely from scratch !!  This isn't an altered project or a soft sided holder (the box construction is heavy chipboard)....you make every part of it....the box, the file folders....everything !!!  The instructions for this project were complicated, so I've already come up with some much easier steps to completely this project which will be included with the class or kit !  I was going to wait until the end of September to offer this as a class/kit but I CAN'T WAIT !!!!  BUT I do want to wait until the new Designer Papers come out so I'll be offering this late August or early September at the latest !!!  There are 9 file folders to hold photos, cards, memorbilia or anything that you'd like to save or organize !!!  I didn't do it on this project but for the class/kit we'll also make tabs for each section.....cool, eh..and best of it....it will hold 4 x 6 photos because the dividers are 5" x 7"....WOWZA !!!!!  Whether you attend the class or purchase a kit both will include complete instructions and all the supplies to complete the project (except tape and stuff like that :)

Well I hope you like it as much as I do...I felt a huge sense of accomplishment making this project.  Like I said before it's not difficult just a little bit more time consuming so I'll probably offer a couple class dates but keep the class sizes a little smaller.  To finish my file organizer I used Rub Ons to personalize it.

Well without further ado (I think I'm suppose to say "ado" but truthfully I have no idea if that's the right word :)....here she is...

Today is grocery day and Cait & Jess are coming with me !!!  Just the big girls today :) !!!!  I'm really looking forward to today as I know these will become fewer and fewer.  Cait will hopefully be working full time soon (poor thing is pounding the pavement daily trying to find work in her field) and Jess works quite a bit and in the Fall will be in college so I'm going to enjoy every moment (hey....they should name a stamp set after that....hehe...oh yeah....they already have :)

All I can tell you is I absolutely freaked out in excitement when the project was done....I think it's my most absolute favourite thing I've made so far !!!!!
